ABOUT US

Jane Hayman qualified as a swimming teacher in 1997 and in addition to full time swimming teaching, set up and established her first successful swim school within a year.

Jane has taught a range of ages, from parent and baby classes, primary school children and young teens, right through to adults.  She has had experience in a wide range of abilities from the nervous non-swimmer to the elite. In October 2009 Jane organised and led a Swimming Tour to Cyprus for a group of elite swimmers. Jane has also had vast experience of arranging and co-ordinating school galas, inter-house competitions and District Galas.

More recently she has become involved with swimmers with a wide range of special needs children.

Jane is a qualified Tutor for the Swimming Teachers Association, teaching others to become swimming teachers and recently qualified (2012) as a Trainer/Assessor for the RLSS, delivering Basic Life Support training to groups responsible for special needs pupils in the water.

The team at JH Swim School consist of experienced Level 2 Swimming Teachers plus qualified Level 1 assistants in the water. We work closely together to provide a safe, efficient and high quality teaching environment. Teachers at JH Swim School are all friendly, approachable and patient and will endeavour to build up every pupils' confidence at his or own pace.

Jane regularly liaises with and receives feedback from the teachers in the team to ascertain progress of the pupils in their groups so that she is fully informed of the improvement of every child swimming at JH Swim School and not just the swimmers in her own groups. This enables Jane to put in place any booster lessons or additional 1:1 support in an endeavour to overcome any skills or techniques which your child may find particularly challenging.

All staff are, of course, fully qualified, have valid Life Saving Certificates, fully insured and hold Enhanced Criminal Record Disclosure Certificates. If you wish to see these certificates, please ask.

JH Swim School offer small teaching groups (maximum of seven to one teacher) to enable each swimmer to receive more personal tuition which helps to accelerate the development of their swimming and water safety skills.  Encouragement and positive feedback is constantly given to help pupils improve and work towards their individual goals.

JH Swim School is affiliated to the ASA and we generally follow the National Plan for Teaching Swimming. We adhere to the current ASA Code of Ethics and Child Protection Procedures and Policies and submit a Risk Assessment to our Insurers every renewal or whenever there is a change to our working environment.
